Yes, Georgia requires you to complete 75 hours of pre-licensing education through an approved course provider.1 You may be able to skip this requirement if you’ve completed qualifying college-level real estate courses.
Do I Need a Background Check?
Before you can get your Georgia real estate license, you’ll need a background check. This means obtaining a Georgia Crime Information Center report from your local police department or sheriff’s office. You also must verify your lawful presence in the U.S. by completing a notarized affidavit online2 with a copy of a valid ID, such as a driver’s license or passport.
Do I Need to Pass an Exam?
Yes. After completing the required education and background check, you must pass the Georgia Real Estate salesperson licensing exam3. Can I Transfer an Out-Of-State License to Georgia?
Yes, Georgia offers license reciprocity6 with most states. If you are licensed in another state and obtained your license by passing an exam, you may qualify for a reciprocal Georgia real estate license without retaking the exam. Florida residents are the exception –– they must pass the Georgia-specific portion of the exam.
